International engineering company Nylacast recently supported a number of charities this winter through the collective effort and fundraising of its employees.
The charitable activities started in South Africa where the Nylacast team continued their tradition of replacing the exchanging of corporate Christmas cards and gifts with donations on behalf of employees, clients and customers to a number of charities supporting local communities and projects.
2017 saw the Nylacast South Africa team make donations to Kids Haven and the NSPCA. Kids Haven was set up in 1992 and takes great effort in securing futures for under-privileged children often homeless or vulnerable to violence. The NSPCA in South Africa have been protecting animals in the region for over 60 years.
In Leicester, the home of Nylacast’s global headquarters, employees got together to support UK charities Leicestershire Cares, Toys on the Table and Dementia UK.
Members of the team across the business raised money to purchase and donate over 150 brand new toy’s destined to reach local children in Leicestershire who would otherwise go without gifts this Christmas. The fundraising project was held in support of two local, Leicestershire charities, Toys on the Table and Leicestershire Cares.
Nylacast team members, apprentices and graduates spent a day in the festive spirit as they participated in a team challenge to wrap hundreds of presents, including those donated by Nylacast, to help Santa deliver them on time.
Deana White, Nylacast Training Officer who was involved in the charitable activities commented, “We greatly enjoyed the charitable activities this December, it is very rewarding to know that our small efforts as a local business have a positive impact on members of our local community. Whatever charity and campaign we choose to donate to we always receive strong support across the company which is always encouraging.”
The company also held an end of year raffle during its staff winter BBQ with all proceeds raised being donated to Dementia UK which provides Admiral Nurses for families affected by Dementia.
