Nylacast proudly sponsored local race team, DMU Racing, made up of aspiring young engineers currently studying within the Technology Faculty of DeMontfort University.
DMU Racing are currently competing in the ‘Formula Student’ competition run by IMecH which is Europes most established educational motorsport competition. The sponsorship package provided by Nylacast not only consists of £1,500 for the purchase of necessary equipment to compete, but also engineering materials and components, endless advice from Nylacasts team of industry experienced engineers and site tours of their manufacturing site.
Representatives from Nylacast visited the DMU Racing workshop to formally present the team with a certificate of sponsorship and wish them success and prosperity in their venture. This included Nylacast Engineer Daniel Wilson, who also studied Mechatronics at DeMontfort University in his earlier years. Mr Wilson took a moment to educate the enthusiastic engineering students on alternate materials and their added benefits within industry today and commented, “It was great to be back at DMU and see so many interested students participating in the team who will undoubtedly become the engineers of tomorrow.
After speaking with them in depth and answering their enthusiastic questions its clear to see they will go far in this competition and we wish them all the best of luck with the race car, their studies and their futures.” Once the race car has been fully constructed by DMU Racing it will be taken to the prestigious Silverstone Circuit to compete with other Formula Student teams from across the globe, between the 3rd and 7th of July, following the race week of the F1 British Grand Prix.
