Nylacast Announces 50-Year Polymeric Torque Bucket Test Regime Update

Enhanced testing for Subsea Torque Buckets

Nylacast has announced a significant update to its testing regime for their ROV Polymeric Torque Buckets. This 50-year lifecycle test regime represents a major advancement in ensuring the long-term reliability and performance of their products, crucial in the demanding Oil & Gas sector.

In this highly competitive industry, stakeholders must consider a wide range of factors to ensure successful project delivery. Performance of subsea equipment is paramount, whether the project involves shallow or deep-water installation or asset maintenance. The evolving needs of the sector demand solutions that enhance technological performance, reduce maintenance downtime, improve safety, and minimise risks. In line with this, Nylacast continues to work closely with industry leaders to drive innovation and improve efficiencies.

As part of their ongoing commitment to high standards, all Nylacast Polymeric Torque Buckets now undergo a rigorous 50-year lifecycle test, compliant with API 17D/17H and BS EN ISO 13628-8 (2006) standards. These tests position Nylacast at the forefront of Class 1-4 Polymer Torque Buckets used in subsea trees, manifolds, and subsea valve actuators.

The introduction of a new, upgraded Torque Bucket test rig, designed and built by Nylacast's engineering team, delivers a maximum torque of 25,000Nm and is tailored to evaluate the full capabilities of the Nylacast Class 1 to 4 torque buckets against industry-standard qualifications. The comprehensive 50-year test replicates the harshest operational conditions, simulating one actuation cycle per week over five decades, with temperatures ranging from -15°C to +45°C—comparable to Class 4 API testing.

This enhanced test regime ensures that Nylacast’s Polymer Torque Buckets can reliably operate in the most demanding subsea environments, opening up new opportunities for their application across subsea infrastructure and valve actuation.

With these updates, Nylacast reaffirms its dedication to driving technological advancements, optimizing equipment performance, and supporting the long-term success of its clients in the global Oil & Gas industry.
