Milestones, Graduations, and New Beginnings
It’s been an eventful and exciting few months for the Nylacast Training Academy and our apprentices. This year marks a significant milestone—our 10th anniversary! In February, we proudly celebrated a decade of nurturing talent, innovation, and professional development.
Since its inception, the Nylacast Training Academy has been committed to equipping apprentices with skills and hands-on experience. Our mission has always been to empower the next generation of engineers, and this year was no exception.
In June, we celebrated another key achievement with the graduation of eight apprentices. These individuals have demonstrated hard work, perseverance, and dedication to their craft, and we couldn't be prouder of what they've achieved.
First-Year Apprentices Final Year Project
More recently, our first-year apprentices impressed us with their final project presentations, showcasing their problem-solving abilities. Over a period of four weeks, they took on the challenge of designing, manufacturing, and demonstrating a mobile crane that met the following criteria:
- Transporting a 3 kg load over a distance of 2.3 meters
- Placing the load on a platform 200 mm above the ground
- Extending the load safely 500 mm beyond the platform’s edge
- Incorporating a hydraulic system for the crane’s operation
The teams not only successfully completed the challenge but also took the time to reflect on their project’s successes and areas for improvement. Their critical thinking, technical expertise, and collaborative spirit shone throughout, a true testament to their growth and development at the Academy.
This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our dedicated employees and mentors who have guided and aided our apprentices every step of the way. Their expertise and encouragement have been instrumental in ensuring the success of these projects and fostering the personal and professional growth of our apprentices.
Welcoming the Next Generation of Talent
As we reflect on these proud moments, we are equally thrilled to announce the arrival of 9 new apprentices, who joined us on 2 September, 2024. These talented individuals have already made an incredible start to their journey of learning, growth, and experience.
We are eager to see all that they will accomplish in the months and years ahead, and we look forward to watching them flourish as they contribute to Nylacast’s continued innovation and success.
